Heya folks,
Is there anybody here that can shed some light as to why it's so hard to punish these guys? Thier macro is predictable and thier behavior is so rediculously abnormal that I dont see why they are not banned right away.
Like right now I've spotted macrominers with the following namenclature
Player1 Player2 Player3 Player4 Player5 Player6 Player7 Player8 Player9 Player10
Hauler1 Hauler2 Hauler3 Hauler4 Hauler5
Can someone, maybe even a CCP person shed some light on this? I'm doing what I can about them but in the overall scheme of things I'm maybe only setting them a day or two back.

I have sent in petitions but I havent seen anything done about it. Does anybody know of a single case where a macrominer has been stopped in one form or another via petition?
Getting back on topic I'm just confused as to why it's so hard to punish these guys when they are clearly being run by a program.

Today in Jita someone in local said...
Are there any humans mining ice that would like to be left alone?
Nobody responded. How terribly terribly sad. The eve economy has a driving force such as macrominers supplying a good deal of the minerals instead of the players with the skills that they spent months developing.

Macrominers avoid rats by warping out of a belt the moment that they are locked... by either a player or NPC so it's not that simple. They also have a built in macro to deploy drones to emulate a player at the keyboard.

That has nothing to do with this. Stay on topic.

If that was in regard to my topic... Sure it does. If high sec mining is no longer profitable, macro miners will leave or move to lowsec where they will be vulnerable to attack.
Point noted but macrominers do already exist to a certain degree in lowsec since the value of trit and pyerite have deflated on ebay so isogen is the next biggest moneymaker for them. Sure you can kill them but these bots are still making more than they are losing, by far.

The macrominer that I'm watching has 15 characters and they are all 3 months and 10-12 days old... so it's not just trial accounts that we are talking about.
These guys are here to stay unless if action is taken.

Originally by: Number 66 It's good money stealing from macro miners. I suggest if people really want to stop them, then start hitting where it hurts in the wallet.
I've reported the same group of macro miners no less then 25 times. Their always there the next day when I hit my insta BM for easy cash. Why doesn't CCP ban them? Money money money, their over 48 macro miners in the system I'm stationed at alone. Just about ever icefield in empire space has a crap load of macro miners. The Macro miners I've been stealing from recently have a fleet of about 10-20 Kessie's that patrol the belts now. I imagine their all training combat pilots now for the RMR can flagging ordeal.
This doesnt really work. A lot of you guys say this but the current macro has the barge sit next to the barge and the barge takes all but 1 unit of whatever ore it is that is being mined into the can so that the jetcan remains.
Also lately I've noticed that if more than 1 character approaches the barge that they start warping off to stations. One guy can sit there next to it and watch all day if he wants.

I'm a bit more settled down by now. I run mostly missions and I can now use level 3 missions from any corp in the Caldari State.
In regards to the macrominer mentioned in the beginning of this thread over a period of 5 days I've killed 7 of his barges and iteron V haulers. He finally gave us the honor of coming into local saying:
"Very funny ha ha ha... Move you"
Each barge runs what? 9 mil? Each mining laser is another 2.8 mil isk per ship. I feel much better.

Edited by: Samurai Pumpkin on 02/01/2006 00:12:12 Yo peeps, I've been away from the game for a while but I've been logging in every now and then, except now there are more macrominers than ever in my home system.
I havent seen a lot of macrominer threads post RMR so I wanted to know if this has been resolved somewhat. To you guys are they more or less prominent now?

Do you guys think that it is possible for macrominers to bring down an online game? I mean, if CCP only has limited resources to deal with these things then what can be done? As this seems to only get worse over time it makes me think of this.
I'm not trying to be a doomsayer or anything, but take a moment and think about it. Currently Eve is getting high praise for being the most *reliable* mmorpg out there so the macromining peeps from other games are coming here.... hummm. I think I'm starting to realize why I've been so heavy into my japanese / anime hobbies. No 3rd party interference to screw with your enjoyment.
